Prosecutor Francis Udofia, a police corporal, had told the court that Yako confessed openly to have the power of witchcraft on Jan. 12. “With the power, he was able to kill one Emma Danjuma at Kugbo. He said other people will also die.” Udofia said the claims caused disturbance and a break down of peace in the area. He said the offence contravened Section 114 of the Penal Code. The accused pleaded guilty to the charge, saying: ‘ ‘I was coming back from the farm when I heard that the some people were planning to kill me. “I then ran to the police station for safety. Investigation: Whereabouts Of N2bn Budgeted For Police Colleges Unknown

No less than N2.046 billion has been budgeted for the upgrade of facilities at the various police colleges across the country, yet the condition of living in the colleges remains pitiable. Investigations revealed that in the budget years of 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, over N2 billion was budgeted for the upgrade of facilities in police colleges and training institutions located in eight states namely Lagos, Kaduna, Borno, Enugu, Oyo, Rivers, Ondo, and Osun states. The authorities of the Nigeria Police were shifting blames yesterday, when asked about the whereabouts of the funds meant for the maintenance of police colleges nationwide. The Senate has summoned the police authorities to give account of the budgetary allocations to the police colleges. Checks have revealed that  the Kaduna college is uninhabitable , while the opposition parties have called on the federal government not to victimise anybody in a bid to apportion blame. SSS Chief Advises Boko Haram To Embrace Dialogue For Islam’s Sake

The Director of the State Security Service (SSS) in Borno, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmed, has advised members of the Boko Haram sect to drop their violent campaign and embrace dialogue. Ahmed gave the advice in an interview  in Maiduguri on Tuesday. He said the sect must embrace dialogue if it truly wanted to achieve its aim. “We have an advice for the leadership  of Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’a Wati Wal Jihad, to consider dropping their weapons and embrace the ever available carrot option from the government,” Ahmed said. He explained that criminals had taken advantage of the violent nature of the sect’s campaign to perpetrate their criminality. “The activities of the sect in Borno State and beyond have became a veritable umbrella under which other forms of criminals seek to dwell,” Ahmed said. He said that the sect must have a re-think if it was truly concerned about Islam.   “They should dialogue for the sake of Islam the religion the group claims to seek to protect but w

Balotelli Preparing for Manchester City Exit!

Image
The controversial striker has already given notice on his rented house in Cheshire and also flown a number of belongings back to Milan ahead of a potential return to San Siro. And the Italian was spotted with a number of close friends at Chinese restaurant Wings in Manchester on Saturday night in what an eye-witness said "looked very much like the final goodbye". He continued: "Mario often dines there but he wasn't his usual jocular self, certainly the mood seemed a sombre one, as if he was on his way." Milan have proposed a £25m (€30m) transfer with payments over six years to sign the 22-year-old, who has scored just one Premier League goal in 14 appearances this season. City director of football Txiki Begiristain and manager Roberto Mancini are both understood to be ready to sell Balotelli following a string of controversies surrounding the former Inter star, who cost £24m (€29m) when he moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2010. The champions are in n

‘Jonathan Belittled His Office By Kneeling In Front Of Adeboye Publicly’ –Tunde Bakare

Image
Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly tells Punch, they have signaled the campaign by going to kneel down before Pastor Adeboye. See, I am not saying that pastors should not pray for presidents, that man was representing an office; a whole nation crumbling before men of God because of political advantage they think they can get. And if the prayer will bail him out, let us wait and see. The truth is who is preparing for 2015, which faction of the PDP? Is it the (Olusegun) Obasanjo faction? Or IBB faction? Or Jonathan faction? The governors’ faction? Because PDP is a house divided against itself; it’s a chicken that has begun to eat its own intestines. By going to kneel down in the open before the pastor, the man (Jonathan) did not even recognise the dignity of his office. If it were a private thing, it is okay for you to crawl or kneel but it is a whole nation. That office has been diminished by a man who does not know the worth of it and does not deserve to stay t

TRENDING: Drama in red: First lady doubles down on Jason Wu. Do you agree that this is a hit?

Image
After all the anticipation and waiting, perhaps the biggest bombshell about Michelle Obama's inaugural ball dress was that it really wasn't a surprise at all. Like 2009, the first lady wore a gown by the Taiwanese-born American designer Jason Wu, who was catapulted into the highest echelons of fashion when Obama donned one of his designs four years ago. Obama had several dresses presented to her before she made her decision, and didn't reveal what she would wear before she stepped out on stage at the Commander-in-Chief's ball, making her repeat turn in Jason Wu a rare moment of suspense amid the scripted revelry of the inauguration. Monday's gown was a vibrant ruby red, made from chiffon and velvet. It had design parallels to the flowing white chiffon dress Mrs. Obama donned in 2009, which firmly cemented the first lady's arm-bearing, cinched waist style. Those arms were again on display Monday in Mrs. Obama's halter-style dress, and a strip of duche

2015: Jonathan Courts North, Woos Ex-Governors

Signals that President Goodluck Jonathan has started plotting how to grab the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2015 election emerged on Monday with the President reaching out to respective former governors of Zamfara and Borno states, Ahmed Yerima and Ali Modu-Sheriff. Our correspondent learnt that the President wanted the two influential politicians in their respective states to strengthen his hold in the north. The President, a source told The PUNCH, had in fact asked the duo to defect to the PDP. The two ex-governors are members of the All Nigeria Peoples Party. The two former governors, it was gathered, would help the President neutralise the anti-Jonathan sentiment in the north where top politicians are clamouring for power shift from the South. The calculations in the President’s team, investigation further revealed, are that these two prominent politicians will also come to the PDP with their state governors. The governors are said to be pr

Gays And Lesbians Should Repent And Turn To God – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, kicked against same sex marriage in some countries, saying that such practice should not be allowed to creep into the country. The respected cleric made this known at the New Year Thanksgiving service organized by the Joint Christian Mission of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife recently. According to Adeboye, same sex marriage was capable of destroying human race within just 20 years of its practice. Daddy G.O, as he is popularly called, described the practice as against God’s will and instruction, and said the will of God for human being was to be fruitful, replenish and multiply on earth and not the other way round. He added that anything contrary to God’s will for mankind was devilish.   He said: “How can a man who marries a fellow man produces a child and how can a woman who marries a woman produces a child? If this evil is allowed to stay, there will not be new born babies

Three Feared Dead As Hoodlums, Police Clash In Lagos

Pandemonium erupted Monday at Ikotun, a suburb in Lagos State, following a violent clash between policemen and some suspected hoodlums which left about three persons dead and others with varying degree of injuries. Although police said only one person died in the clash, it was gathered that the figure could be more owing to the violent nature of the clash. According to eyewitness account, the clash started at about 11.a.m., after a team of policemen attached to Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu, stormed a purported Indian hemp joint around Agbole area of Ikotun to effect the arrest of some suspected hoodlums. Their action met stiff resistance from the suspected hoodlums. This led to a heated argument between both parties which soon snowballed into violence. Angered by the death of their colleague, the youths in the area were said t
