Kano Bans Use Of Motorcycles

The ban was announced on Tuesday after after Emir of Kano was attacked by men riding on bikes. The Kano State Government has banned the use of motorcycles, popularly known as Achaba, for commercial purposes in the city.
Kano reportedly has the highest number of commercial motorcycles in the country with conservative estimates putting the number of riders in the state at about one million.
The ban follows similar adoptions by state governments which they say curbs incidents of crime. Many crimes, particularly attacks on security operatives in the Northern Nigerian State, were carried out by men on motorcycles.

Nigerians Are Good People Indeed

The dispatch with which ordinary Nigerians rescued the motorist whose vehicle plunged into the Lagos lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge on Saturday, January 26, 2013 proved once more that Nigerians are great people. Unlike most stories from Nigeria that usually end on a sad and demoralising note, this story ended on a happy note like a Nollywood film. It was nothing short of a miracle. The sole occupant of that vehicle was brought out of the lagoon alive. Police Arrest Redeemers University Student Over Death Of Suspected Gay Banker

Homicide detectives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, have arrested an undergraduate of the Redeemers University, Ogun State, in connection with the brutal murder of a suspected gay banker, Adindu Ohamara. According to sources, the banker was on April 9, found in a pool of his blood in his room, having been stabbed severally by the suspect. Six persons were thereafter arrested in connection with the crime by detectives from the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department ,SCID,in Panti, Lagos State. Some of the persons picked-up by the Police included, a sister of the deceased, Flora who regained her freedom on Wednesday.
