How We Did It, Kabiru Sokoto Tells Court

Kabiru Sokoto, who is standing trial for the 2011 Christmas Day bombing of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, yesterday opened up in court, explaining how they carried out the attack. Sokoto was arraigned for terrorism at the Federal High Court, Maitama in Abuja. The Boko Haram leader and mastermind of the church’s bombing, who since his arraignment, had denied involvement or knowledge of the deadly attack, suddenly opened up yesterday on how they plotted and killed over 40 worshippers on December 25, 2011 at about 8.00am. Sokoto dismissed claims that the attack on the church was carried out by a suicide bomber. Another bombshell by Sokoto is the financial link Boko Haram had with Algeria and how a group which is the sect’s financial backbone had been instrumental to their means of  fundraising  to carry out deadly attacks. Breaking News: Roberto Mancini Has Been Sacked By Manchester City

Image
Manchester City have sacked Roberto Mancini 12 months after he guided the club to their first league title in 44 years. Having failed to mastermind the retention of City's Premier League title this season, losing out to rivals Manchester United, Mancini was under pressure to deliver silverware in the form of the FA Cup. However, a shock 1-0 defeat to Wigan in Saturday's final immediately led to renewed speculation that the Italian was on his last legs at Eastlands. By firing a manager with a proven track record like Roberto Mancini, Richard Jolly believes that Man City is taking a major risk. Roberto Mancini's firing at Manchester City proves that the club's wonky, win-now DNA is still fully functional and firmly in place, writes Man City blogger Simon Curtis. And so it proved to be, with Mancini axed by City after three-and-a-half years in the Eastlands hotseat. Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini is currently the favourite to be named his successor. A state

He said, “The transport unions have agreed on the type of uniform and the badges they will give to the commercial bus drivers and their conductors. The identities of the owners (owners’ cards) of the commercial buses will also be aboard these buses.” Again, the commercial bus drivers must be re-certified by attending the drivers’ institute, where they will undergo comprehensive tests  -  including vision and driving tests. The Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lagos State branch, Mr. Tajudeen Agbede, reacting to this development, said the union

Bomb Detectors Installed At Lagos Motor Parks

Bomb and metal detectors are being installed at public motor parks in Lagos State for screening of vehicles going into the parks. Passengers using any of the public motor parks, especially those for inter-state travels, will also have their luggage screened. State Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Union, Mr. Tajudeen Agbede, said this at a press conference in Lagos on Monday. The forum was also used to present members of a new task force raised by the union. The installation of bomb detectors at the park  came some weeks after some people were killed when bombs exploded at a luxury bus park in Sabon Gari, Kano State. Luxury bus operators had also in a recent petition to the Presidency requested a 24-hour police protection at the Kano motor park and other parts of the country where they were operating. Agbede said the security measures were taken to further protect the lives and property of passengers, drivers and other users of the motor parks in Lagos. H
