PDP Held Closed-Door Reconciliatory Meeting at Obasanjo’s Residence

Members of the various PDP factions in Ogun on Monday, held a closed-door reconciliatory meeting at the hilltop residence of former Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo was also the immediate past Chairman of the party's Board of Trustees (BOT). Reportedly, those who attended the four-hour meeting were Chief Segun Oni, a former PDP National Vice-Chairman, South-West, Sen Jubril Martins Kuye, a former Minister of State for Finance and Chief Sarafa Ishola, a former Minister for Mines and Steel Development. Some of the party chieftains who addressed newsmen described the meeting as fruitful. Kuye told newsmen that the development was part of the moves to reposition the party ahead of the 2015 General Elections. He said that the intra-party crises had caused a lot of setbacks to the party in the state, adding that it was necessary for elders of the party to come together and "mend broken fences", to move the party forward. Twenty-five soldiers on Monday took their heartthrobs to the altar in a special mass wedding at the 302 Artillery Regiment of the Nigerian Army, Onitsha as part of activities to mark the Easter celebration. The soldiers and their brides filed up at the St Peter’s Military Church (Anglican) as early as 10 am to take their nuptial vows as the Vicar and officiating Minister, Capt. Adesuyi Replaces Shem as Lagos Commandant

Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has finally replaced Mr. Obafaiye Shem, the man who postulated the “my oga at the top” mantra, as commandant of Lagos State Command. He was replaced by Mr. Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command. The Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Olu Abolurin, who was in Lagos weekend over the alleged killing of two of his officers by some policemen, introduced the new Commandant to journalists. However, he did not give reasons for Obafaye’s removal but sources hinted that Adesuyi took over from the former Commandant Obafaye on Tuesday March 29. The source believed that it may not be unconnected with his recent interview on Channels Television live programme. Before now, authorities of NSCDC has denied taken any disciplinary action against Mr. Shem over the said interview.  Their reaction followed claims that Shem had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of Interior, who supervises the NSCDC.
