Jonathan Attacks Obasanjo Again, Calls Him Confused And Unstable

President Goodluck Jonathan has again lashed out at ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as a confused man unstable in his views regarding government’s handing of the protracted Boko Haram insurgency. Mr. Jonathan, who spoke through his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, was reacting to Mr.  Obasanjo’s comment in a CNN  interview that the president had been deploying excessive force and exploring little or no dialogue in solving the Boko Haram problem. “To deal with a group like that, you need a carrot and stick. The carrot is finding out how to reach out to them. When you try to reach out to them and they are not amenable to being reached out to, you have to use the stick,” Mr. Obasanjo reportedly said. An apparently angry Mr. Abati took to Twitter early this morning deploring the former president’s  comment and labeling him a confused man whose counsel or view the government does not care about. In four different tweets this morning,  the presidential spokesperson said,

Lampard Set To Join Man Utd

Image
Lampard has been told he is no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge, with his contract set to run out in the summer. United manager Alex Ferguson is convinced the veteran midfielder, 34, can still do a job at the very highest level. He is a long-time admirer of the player and tried to get him before he even joined Chelsea. It is unlikely a deal will be done this month — when a fee would be involved — while Lampard is also keen to see out the rest of the season at Stamford Bridge. But United are prepared to offer him a one-year deal in the summer, with the promise of a second year if everything goes well. Contact has already been made from Old Trafford to Lampard’s representatives. He currently has a number of options including another Premier League club and two abroad. But United are firm favourites to land him in a deal that would have seemed unthinkable at the start of the season.

Prostitutes Learn English Ahead Of World Cup

Taxi drivers and bellboys aren't the only ones going back to school to learn a little English ahead of the 2014 World Cup to be hosted in various cities across Brazil. In the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, prostitutes are lining up for free English classes that will be offered by the regional Association of Prostitution starting in March. "Across Brazil, lots of businesses in the private sector are getting prepared and making their workers more qualified for the Cup. Well, this is a profession, too," Cida Vieira, the president of the association, told CNN in a telephone interview. In Brazil, prostitution is legal, although sexual exploitation and pimping are not. "English will be very important to communicate with clients during the Cup," Vieira said. "They'll have to learn how to work out financial deals and also use a specialized vocabulary with sensual words and fetishes." Vieira said that 20 prostitutes had already signed up, but

Balotelli Will Not Bite Back

Image
Balotelli has been strongly linked with a move to Milan for some time, with speculation resurfacing during the current transfer window. There would, however, appear to be little chance of the Italy international completing such a switch any time soon, with Berlusconi having openly criticised the fiery frontman. When pressed on transfer rumours last week, Berlusconi said he was not convinced by Balotelli 'as a man' and has followed that up by branding the 22-year-old 'a rotten apple'. Balotelli could have been forgiven for biting back at the Rossoneri supremo, given that he has only had positive things to say about Milan in the past, but his representative claims his focus is locked on returning to form and repaying City's faith in his ability. Mino Raiola told Mediaset: "I talked with Mario and he was sorry to hear the words of Berlusconi. But Balotelli has asked me to be quiet because he appreciates that he is loved by the president at City. &quo

Nasarawa Governor Undergoes Surgery

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, recently travelled abroad for hip replacement surgery, an online news site has reported. One of the Governor’s aides, who confirmed the information, said Al-Makura went for a hip correction he had been “battling with for about ten years now.” The aide added that the medical trip was successful and that the Governor was back to shape, although is still recuperating.
