I’m Celebrating My Father’s Life And Not His Death - Dr. Sid

Sidney popularly called Dr. Sid in the entertainment world has revealed that he’s not going to dwell on his father’s death, Justus Esiri, the veteran actor but celebrate his life well spent. Dr. Sid, though, refused to make any further comment as regards the father’s death due to the fact that, the family highly lampooned him for using a press release without the knowledge head of the family “That is why I don’t want to talk. We have a lot of elders in the family and I don’t want to start acting like the head of the family,” he confessed. When asked about the burial arrangements for the great actor, he revealed that the family was still deliberating on the issue, explaining that there were many factors to look out for. Islamist Group, Ansaru Post Video of Hostages' Bodies

Nigerian Islamist group, Ansaru,  that killed seven foreign hostages it had been holding since February has posted a video of their bodies on the Internet. Italian and Greek authorities confirmed on Sunday that a British, an Italian, a Greek and four Lebanese construction workers abducted in northern Nigeria last month had been killed by their captors, reports Reuters. Former Abia Police Officer Sentenced to Death by Hanging

A High Court sitting in Umuahia has sentenced a former police officer, Corporal Umaru Mohammed to death by hanging over the killing of his colleague, Clement Amaechi, in 2011. Both of them were officers in the Abia state police command. Immediately after the delivery of the judgment, Mohammed  refused to be handcuffed and taken away as he warned all the prison warders to stay away from him . He was eventually subdued by armed officers in the courtroom. Mohammed attempted to  snatch a gun  from one of the warders that brought him to the court before he was subdued by security men. Delivering judgment on the matter Justice Agwu Umah Kalu said the prosecution proved unequivocally that the gunshots fired by the accused person at close range killed the deceased, adding that it is an offence that is punishable under section 319, cap 1 of the criminal code in the state. Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, yesterday explained the rationale behind the selection of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999. Featuring on a weekly Guest-of-the Week programme of Liberty FM, a private radio station in Kaduna, Babangida said they picked General Obasanjo because they needed somebody who can save the country from disintegration. “The emergence of Obasanjo came as a result of what happened in the country. The country was in a very serious crisis and we had to find the solution to these problems. Therefore we need a leader. A leader who is known in the country. “So, we looked for a man who has been involved in the affairs of this country, who held position either in the military or in the cabinet and who has certain beliefs about Nigeria. Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governors’ Forum will meet today in Abuja. The venue of the meeting is the Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja where the Chairman of the new platform and Akwa Ibom Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, will preside. Two opposition parties, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP have warned of massive protests if the newly formed opposition alliance, All Progressives Change, APC, is denied registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
