ODUAH CAR SCANDAL: Okonjo-Iweala Denies Granting Waiver For Armoured Cars

The Ministry of Finance on Thursday said it did not grant waiver for the controversial N255m bulletproof cars purchased by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. The disclosure came barely 24 hours after the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation was informed that  the  Federal Ministry of Finance and the National Security Adviser were made  to believe that the  two vehicles  were for   the 18th  National Sports Festival (Eko Games 2012) hosted by Lagos State. Oduah's Supporters Accuse Amaechi Of Starting "Witch-Hunt" Against Minister

Protesters supporting the embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, have accused Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State of being among top government officials raising the “witch-hunt against the minister.” The protesters, having gathered at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, claimed that Amaechi was against the minister because his aircraft was grounded earlier this year by agencies under the ministry. The National Coordinator, Grass Root Movement for Unity and Stability – a rights group, Mr. Edisemi Yiki, alleged that calls for the sacking of Oduah were politically motivated. According to the coordinator's words, his group has conducted investigation and they found out that a serving governor from the South-South region of the country was leading the campaign for the removal of the aviation minister. Goodluck And Patience Jonathan Bag Chieftaincy Titles In Okrika

Upon arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport at 2pm on Thursday, President Goodluck Jonathan, headed to Okrika home town of his wife Dame Patience, where they were conferred with chieftaincy titles by King E.D.I Obudibo, Ikwo V of Ogoloma. Jonathan was accompanied by  Governor  Chibuike Amaechi  of Rivers State and  Seriake Dickson  of Bayelsa State. Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state was at the Port Harcourt International Airport to welcome President Goodluck Jonathan and later flew in the same chopper to Okrika town for the burial of the adopted mother of Mrs. Patience Jonathan. They were joined on the trip by Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson. This fuelled excitement within the political circles, with speculations that President Jonathan and Ameachi, both politically estranged duo will use the joint flight to have a heart to heart talk. N255m Car Scandal: Oduah Denies Wrongdoing, Blames NCAA DG, Aides

The embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah,   has been   accused by the  House of Representatives Committee on Aviation of approving  N564m for the purchase of 54 cars beyond her power. The committee alleged that Oduah, who  finally appeared before it  on Thursday after  failing to honour  earlier invitations,  did not follow the budget approved for the Aviation ministry and its agencies  by the National Assembly. When Oduah  was  called upon to testify on her role in the purchase of two bulletproof cars at a whopping N255m and other vehicles by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, she seemed to have regained confidence as she looked the committee members in the face and then   apologised for  her  failure  to  honour  their earlier summons. She  denied that the NCAA  bought  the two   bulletproof cars for her use, claiming that its decision to buy the cars did not breach any law of the land. She stated that the NCAA  bought  the bulletproof cars  for its own operat
