Medview Air which was recently issued an Air Operator's Certificates (AOC), on Sunday 27th January  2013 made an air return on its Abuja bound flight from the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) with 74 passengers on board. Information gathered by our correspondent revealed that 15 minutes after take-off from the airport, there was a bang in one of the two engines of the Boeing 737-400, which prompted the pilot to quickly return to base. The incident led to panic among the passengers on board the aircraft.  Besides, when the aircraft finally made an air return to Lagos, some of the passengers who were previously on board refused to travel with it while others agreed to be put on another aircraft of the airline already on ground at the tarmac. Speaking on the issue, the General Manager, Med-View Airline, Mr. David Babatunde confirmed the incident, but explained that air return was normal in global aviation industry, saying that the pilot took the precautionary safety

The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sahaad has asked the Federal Government to treat the ceasefire declared by a faction of the Boko Haram Islamic sect with caution. Admiral Sahaad, who spoke with reporters after a meeting in Abuja, also called on government to strengthen its security operations all over the country to avert further attacks by the group. According to him, defence officials are excited on the declaration of ceasefire by members of the sect but will not rest on its oars in ensuring the security of lives and properties in Nigeria. Other security officials in the country also commended members of the group for the ceasefire. Philippe Coutinho is expected to be confirmed as Brendan Rodgers' second signing of the January transfer window inside the next 24 hours. The United Arab Emirates has ordered 94 people to be tried on charges of trying to seize power. The attorney general said the suspects had formed a group that publicly called on people to observe the teachings and values of Islam, but in secret sought to overthrow the state. He said they had links to foreigners, including the Muslim Brotherhood. The UAE has arrested dozens of alleged dissidents, who have said they are victims of false accusations. Political parties and demonstrations are banned in the UAE. A statement from Attorney General Salem Saeed Kubaish said the suspects had used the media and social networking sites “to turn nationals (UAE citizens) against their government”. “They launched, established and ran an organisation seeking to oppose the basic principles of the UAE system of governance and to seize power,” it said.
