Airfares Jump Over Dana Airlines’ Suspension

Passengers were unpleasantly surprised yesterday at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, MMA2 and the General Aviation Terminal, GAT, Terminal 1: airline operators substantially raised airfares.

According to the information gathered by Vanguard, for example, a 55-minutes flight to Abuja attracted between N22, 000 and N26, 000 in the economy class depending on how early a prospective passenger bought the ticket.
 
Before the clampdown on Dana Airlines, the ticket price was between for between N18, 000 and N20, 000.
 
First Nation Airways that resumed flights recently after closing shop for about 14 months charged N25, 500 to Abuja while Aero collected N22, 500.
 
Some passengers, interviewed by Vanguard, felt disappointed with the fact that the operators were using the opportunity of the crisis in the industry to exploit travellers.
 
One of the passengers characterized such a situation as unfortunate and pathetic stressing that in a country where the economy was going down, airlines were still charging high fares.

Nigerians Are Good People Indeed

The dispatch with which ordinary Nigerians rescued the motorist whose vehicle plunged into the Lagos lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge on Saturday, January 26, 2013 proved once more that Nigerians are great people. Police Arrest Redeemers University Student Over Death Of Suspected Gay Banker

Homicide detectives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, have arrested an undergraduate of the Redeemers University, Ogun State, in connection with the brutal murder of a suspected gay banker, Adindu Ohamara. According to sources, the banker was on April 9, found in a pool of his blood in his room, having been stabbed severally by the suspect. Six persons were thereafter arrested in connection with the crime by detectives from the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department ,SCID,in Panti, Lagos State.
