PDP Seems To Thin Out As 15 Party Members Defect To APC

Torn by the internal crisis, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has just lost 15 Executive Committee members of the Borno State chapter, who have on Wednesday, September 4, defected to the newly formed All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defecting members were led by Deputy State Chairman of the party Habu Hamman, State Secretary Mallam Gana Radu, and  Women Leader Hajia Fati Kakena. They were received by Governor Kashim Shettima, the Governor of Borno State.
In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, the 15 committee members stated they voluntarily resign from PDP and shift their loyalty to APC.
They APC newcomers explained they "decided to take such decision due to some developmental achievements carried out by the present administration that touch on the lives of the common man in the state."
They, however, pledged their support to the present administration that, according to the statement, managed to advance the development of Borno despite the security challenges.
The other defecting members include Hon. Nuhu Clark - state youth leader; Liman Mustapha - state org. Secretary; Hon. Audu B. Walama - state Treasurer, and Hon. Modu Allami- State pub. Secretary, Alh. Audu Gambo - state auditor; Modu Abba - asst. org. sec., north; Gambo Birma - asst. org. sec. South; Hon. Abdulraman Abdulawan - asst. sec., central; Mohammed Danjuma - asst. pub. secretary; Hon. Mustapha Ali - ex-officio; Aja Eli Wakil - ex-officio; and Hajiya Bintu Bukaram - ex-officio.
