photo A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye, has said he is hopeful that the Supreme Court will reinstate Mr. Segun Oni as the state governor when it delivers its verdict in May.
Speaking  through the Director-General of his campaign organisation, Mr. Bisi Kolawole,  in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Adeyeye said he was in support of Oni’s case at the apex court.
Oni was sacked by the judgment of the Court of Appeal headed by Justice Ayo Salami on October 15, 2010.
He had gone to court seeking reinstatement as the governor of the state.
Adeyeye, who was the chairman of State Universal Board for Education during Oni’s reign, said he believed that the ousted governor would be reinstated.
Kolawole said, “We are still hopeful about  the case at the Supreme Court. We are hopeful that something miraculous will happen.”
He accused Governor Kayode Fayemi of non performance and misuse of the N20bn bond raised from the capital  market while describing the construction of the new Government House as a waste.
He vowed to probe the current administration if elected the governor.
But the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, said Adeyeye’s allegations were unfounded.
The CPS said, “He must have made his wild and unfounded allegations out of frustration,  mischief or ignorance.  Whatever it is, he cannot be forgiven for this  bogus claims and the dubious attempt to mislead the good people of Ekiti.
“Adeyeye will be making a big mistake to compare the Fayemi administration with the discredited administration under which he served as chairman of SUBEB.
“While the current administration  approached the money market and took  a N20bn bond with which it is developing the state, with a well structured repayment plan which is being adhered to, the discredited government Adeyeye served left a huge debt with practically nothing to show for it.
“Aside the bond money, the state has also increased its IGR from N109m  to over N600m through the introduction of some innovations in government.”
