2,500 ACN Members Defect To PDP

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Kwara state, has lost over 2,500 members to the Peoples Democratic People (PDP) over non-fulfillment of election promises.

Dr. Bukola Saraki (Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District) who received the new PDP members promised that they will partake in the prosperity that the PDP government offers.
Elaborating on the reason for the defection, Abdulazeez Kazim who was the ACN secretary for Oke Ogun ward in Ilorin South local government area noted that the decampees were disappointed by ACN’s failure to provide jobs for the youths.

Floating School for Makoko Slum Residents

Residents of Makoko/Iwaya Waterfront in Yaba Local Council Development Area, LCDA, will soon begin to enjoy the luxury of a floating school jointly built by the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP and NLE Works, Nigeria. The three storey floating building is part of the regeneration plan for the coastal community. According to the builders the construction of the school is aimed at achieving the Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, Goal II, which is to boost universal primary education. This came barely eight months after the Lagos State government demolished hundreds of ‘illegal structures in the area. The residents of the community anticipate that many of their children will now have access to sound education.
