Janet Jackson Converts To Islam, Quits Music

Image
Superstar Janet Jackson is reportedly quitting the entertainment industry and is going to leave the country to become a Muslim. Rob Shuter tells reporters that Jackson is moving to the Middle East and is converting to Islam. Shuter says that since she married billionaire Wissam Al Mana, she has tired of the grueling entertainment industry. The pair got married last year in a very private ceremony, according to Shuter, and they want to live a private life away from the paparazzi. Al Mana, a Qatar native, is involved in his family's controlled Middle-East-based Al Mana Retail Group. This is Jackson's third marriage. It should be noted that since her breast was exposed at the super bowl she hasnt been able to redeem her career and it has been downhill for her music and tv shows ever since

10 African Leaders Who Died In Office

Image
Since 2005, 10 African leaders have died of natural causes while serving as Heads of State. 2012 alone saw the deaths of four sitting African presidents. These deaths can create instability in their respective countries and regions, while nations are often thrown into a period of mourning. There are a number of theories about why African leaders are dying in office with such frequency; however most of them have their critics. The more pertinent fact is that most of the leaders we looked at were treated in (and in many cases spent their final moments in) hospitals outside their homeland. This is a stinging indictment of healthcare on the continent and one wonders if many of these leaders would still be at the helm if they had access to better healthcare sooner. Where leaders died in office there was usually a period of national mourning and a fittingly grand state funeral. The most recent deaths of sitting African leaders have been followed by relatively peaceful transfers of power ...

PHCN: Lagos Community Gets Power After 21 Years Of Darkness

The joy of the people of Agura community in Ikorodu, Lagos State, knew no bounds on Wednesday when light shone for the first time after 21 years of darkness. The dream of the community was actualised when the member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, inaugurated the transformers she donated to them. Beside Agura, eight other communities benefitted from the lawmaker’s gift of 15 transformers, which had already been installed. Other beneficiary communities were Ijede, Ikorodu, Solomade, Imota, Aga, Mowonla, Igbopa, Igangbe and Okoitan. The communities also benefitted from no fewer than 15 solar-powered boreholes. Chairman of the Community Development Association in Agura, Chief Saliu Erubami, described Dabiri-Erewa as a worthy ambassador. He said the last time the community “tasted” dividends of democracy in the area was 21 years ago during the time of the Social Democratic Party. Erubami said, “It is wh...

Banky W Finally Clears The Air On His Relationship With Wizkid

Image
"It's all bad belle people, they think there may be bad news and when you don't give them that news they start to create it because bad news sells more than good news. First of all, there was no twitter fight, people go online and use photoshop to create my profile and then they go and create Wizkid's profile and say he said this and that - even when it never happened. What happened is that we have been working on Wizzy's project to make it work internationally and when you are getting to that level, things change.” This was said by the EME big shot when he was in Dubai for Tuface Idibia’s wedding. Banky further said that all the tweets about his fight with the young talent were all fabricated. “He has his own idea of what he wants to do and we are in 100% support of that and these were the things we dreamed of back in 2009 when I signed him....Wizkid is still signed to the E.M.E!!!” he said. On Wizkid's Starboy Entertainment that he just floated, he has...

10 African Leaders Who Came To Power By Coups

Image
Blaise Compaore (Burkina Faso)  Blaise Compaore came to power in 1987; following a coup which saw former president and close Compaore ally Thomas Sankara murdered. Compaore has described the murder as an accident, but the true events remain a mystery due to a lack of investigation. He overturned many of his predecessor’s policies, and went on to win elections in 1998, 2005 and 2010. Under his rule Burkina Faso has been accused of violence against journalists and members of civil society. Compaore is said to be in the process of redrafting the constitution in order to remain in power beyond the end of his term in 2015. Francois Bozize (Central African Republic) Francois Bozize Yangouvonda came to power as the President of the Central African Republic after he led a successful coup against former president Ange-Felix Patasse. He seized power, redrafted the constitution and held elections which, after a runoff, he won. Bozize was re-elected in 2011. A 2009 re...

PSG Right For Rooney - Ibrahimovic

Image
Paris St Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Wayne Rooney should join the French club if he decides it is time to leave Manchester United. United are adamant that Rooney is not for sale, and plan to offer him a new contract, while PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists there has been no approach for the England international. However Sweden international Ibrahimovic claims PSG would be the obvious choice of club if the 27-year-old ever departs Old Trafford. Ibrahimovic said of Rooney: "If he wants to be part of the best project in football then there is only one club to sign for. "Only he knows the decision he is going to make in the summer but the project we are trying to build here is clear. "We are not content with being the dominant force in France, we want to be the top club in Europe as well. "I can understand why the owners are interested in Rooney - he is in the top 10 of strikers in Europe. Source:  sky sports
